About me
My name is Corin Armstead. I am a mum and a primary school teacher.
I came up with this idea from a mix of ideas. As a child I remember seeing a gnome sitting on top of someone's roof in Grey Lynn. I remember in the papers it was reported about someone taking a gnome from someone's garden on holiday with them and sending postcards of their gnome on holiday and it was returned once the holiday was finished. I remember imagining taking this gnome on a holiday.
Then as a teacher I had a class zebra called 'Roy the zebra' who would go home each night with a child and they would write in their diary what Roy had been up to.
Then I saw on Facebook Westie Rocks and loved the idea that people would paint and hide rocks for others to find and post on the Facebook page when they found the rock.
So then came this idea. A gnome that could hide in the community for people to find, write on a shared page and then hide. A fun way to for people to connect and to encourage creativity and purposeful writing.
